Connect with old dots - sourabh verma

      Connect with old dots
Yesterday I called one of my old customer. Sourabh verma. One of the great peronality by nature known to me. He is the IIT'en, worked in NTPC. From year  2011 to 2018 When I was service engineer, I was quarterly visited to NTPC Sipat. He was the concerned person for my visit. We both are almost same age group. As service engineer we always get complaint mode sound from customer and they expect for solutions. But in sourabh's case I experienced diffence. Whenever we meet we started conversation with "Kaise hai, how is your family. And vice versa. After that some genral talks and at the end little bit on work. He never raise his voice. Always talk in soft and steady tone. That thinks always impress me. He was the CHP (coal handling plant) head. They have huge pressure to run the plant. Observed His colluge many times souts on thier sub ordinates. But he always talk gently and his subordinates always ready to go extra miles for him.
Here I observed the inspiration to his  team is his nature. The respect they receive from him.
Same impacted on me also. Whenever I receive call from his team for remote support. I use to provide it immediately.
After 2018 yesterday on 8th nov 2025 suddenly I remembered him and immediately called him.
1st he didn't picked call. But after 10min back I received call back. In limited word we talked lot. Apprciated each others plus points. Invited each other to let's meet again some day. That's what I called remember and join the old dots again.
Do call your old customers, contacts, great persnalities. From who indirectly you learned somthing.
Connection means creat and join the new dots. But along with that we have to make old dots more strong.
Thank you

Reconnect with Old Dots – Sourabh Verma
by Jayant Jagtap
Yesterday, I decided to call one of my old customers, Sourabh Verma—a person I deeply respect for his humility and balanced nature. An IIT graduate and a professional at NTPC, Sourabh was my point of contact during my quarterly visits to NTPC Sipat between 2011 and 2018, when I worked as a service engineer. In our field, customers often reach out in complaint mode, expecting quick solutions. But with Sourabh, things were always different. Every meeting began with a warm conversation—asking about each other’s families, sharing a few personal updates—and only then would we discuss work. He never raised his voice, always spoke calmly, and maintained a steady tone that left a lasting impression on me.
As CHP (Coal Handling Plant) Head, he worked under tremendous pressure to keep operations running smoothly. Yet, even in high-stress moments, he treated his team with respect and empathy. I saw how his gentle leadership motivated people to go the extra mile for him. His influence extended beyond his team—it shaped my own approach to work as well. Whenever his team called me for remote support, I was always eager to help.
After 2018, we lost contact. But on November 8, 2025, I suddenly remembered him and decided to call. Though he missed my first call, he returned it within minutes. Our brief conversation was filled with appreciation and positivity, ending with a mutual wish to meet again soon.
Sometimes, reconnecting with old dots brings fresh energy and perspective. We focus so much on creating new connections that we forget to strengthen the old ones—the ones that truly shaped who we are.Keep connecting, keep remembering, and keep those old dots alive.
Thank you,
Jayant Jagtap
